Often sunny and warm, but never too hot, the weather in the summer here rarely lets you down, encouraging you to get outside and ride that alpine coaster, hike those trails, and plan to spend happy mornings angling in Trout Hook Fishing Pond. Daytime temperatures may tiptoe into the 80s, but don’t leave your jackets at home; nighttime temps can dip into the 40s, making hot cocoa and a fire in the fireplace seem like a truly excellent idea.

World-Class Mountain Biking at the Snowmass Bike Park
Mountain biking is quite popular in our mountain town, and while there are many trails “out in the wild” on which you can bike quite happily (such as the Tom Blake Trail), Snowmass Bike Park offers another way to enjoy the sport. Offering more than 25 miles of free ride and technical trails, the chairlifts you ride in the winter months will make it easy to get to the top. The learning center offers clinics and bike school throughout the summer. You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy Snowmass Bike Park, but you may become one after you take a few classes or clinics.

Hiking, Gondola Rides, and Getting Up the Mountain Without Skis
The mountain is the center of fun year-round, offering a plethora of ways to enjoy it without skis. Hiking trails, such as the Maroon-Snowmass Trail to Snowmass Lake, offer a different experience with every step, including the chance to see meadows filled with wildflowers. This is a tough hike for experienced trekkers.

The Elk Camp Gondola is open in the summer from 10 AM until 5 PM, offering sightseeing trips up the mountain. Ascend from Snowmass Base Village up to Elk Camp Meadows, where you’ll find The Lost Forest (which offers rock climbing, zip lines, ropes courses, and more) as well as the Elk Camp Restaurant.
