Why Snowmass Is One of the Best Group Ski Destinations in Colorado

Snowmass Village is extremely well-suited for groups, offering thousands of square feet of event space, including the Base Village Conference Center, plus shops, restaurants, and The Collective, a hub for community events and gatherings throughout the year.

Colorado is noted for its sprawling, luxurious, and welcoming ski resorts, so saying that Snowmass is one of the best group ski destinations in Colorado is a pretty big deal. It is also a statement we stand by, understanding better than anyone the intricacies, trials, and tribulations of group travel.

What are the odds that everyone in your supersized traveling party is on the same skill level when it comes to skiing? Obviously, the answer to that question is “not very good odds at all,” but that’s ok. Snowmass, the largest of the four mountains in the area, has terrain for every skill level, including a trail breakdown of 6% beginner, 44% intermediate, and 50% expert.

Choosing the Right Accommodations for Your Group at The Timberline

How to Mix and Match Condo Sizes for Different Group Configurations

Now that you have had a peek at Snowmass Village and the Ski Resort, let’s talk home and comfort. Our group rentals in Snowmass will offer the ideal setup for your traveling party, no matter its size. Because we offer condos that range in size from studios (your mother-in-law would love to have a space she could call her own) to 3 bedrooms (the more the merrier!), you can mix and match to ensure everyone has their own space!

Why Ski-In/Ski-Out Access Changes the Group Trip Dynamic

A ski trip to Snowmass with a large group might be your dream vacation, and when you choose our ski-in/ski-out retreats, you may be surprised at how the dynamic changes. Giving guests the freedom to set their own schedules and come and go as they please can be relaxing and help eliminate tension. Those who tire more easily can cut their day short and come back to the condo for cocoa and a nap while the diehards continue through the last ride up the mountain on the chairlift.

Full Kitchens, Shared Meals, and Keeping Group Costs Down

Finally, there’s the cost factor. As you well know, dining out for every meal can shoot a hole in your budget, but with multiple full kitchens, you can cook and dine together, keeping costs lower.

Getting Your Group to Snowmass: Transportation Tips from the Airport

Transportation can be problematic, but we at The Timberline are experts at making life easier. We offer a complimentary shuttle service that can be used for almost any circumstances, including pickup and drop-off at the airport. If you are leaving our fair city, you will need to book the shuttle 24 hours in advance, but it is a good option, especially if you don’t want to rent a large number of cars for your large group. Snowmass also offers a free Village Shuttle running 8 routes year-round, and of course, the Sky Cab Gondola (also free) can take you from the Village to Snowmass Mall.

Planning Activities That Work for the Whole Group

Ski School

Not everyone in your group will know the sport, but our local ski school can change that with group lessons so you can stay together while you learn. The classes fill up quickly, so we suggest you book yours at least 7 days in advance to avoid missing out. Also, for first-time adult skiers, each group is limited to 5 people, so keep that in mind.

Off-Mountain Activities for Non-Skiers and Rest Days

Man cannot live on skis alone, but that’s ok. Even winter visitors will find many off-mountain activities, and rest days spent in the cozy comforts of our Timberline condos are sure to bring joy.

Did you know that every afternoon in Snowmass Village, they serve free gourmet s’mores around the fire pits found throughout the village? Yes, we know it doesn’t take long to gobble down the goodness of this wonderful treat, but for a few minutes, you will know you are in heaven!

Ullr Nights is a family-friendly event on select winter nights that begins with a Gondola ride to Elk Camp Restaurant and continues with rides on our Alpine Coaster (the Breathtaker), an à la carte dinner, live music, and a bonfire.

The Collective features rock-climbing walls, a gym, a game lounge, and, in winter, an outdoor ice rink, making it a great spot to visit with your whole group.

Group Dining in Snowmass: How to Feed Everyone Without the Chaos

The Timberline features a seasonal restaurant, The Edge Restaurant & Bar, serving comfort food with a European twist. Also, don’t forget the kitchens of your condo (or condos) feature gourmet appliances that will make you want to cook a meal.
