Planning to Pack

The hardest part of any vacation is often as simple as packing your suitcase. You want to prepare for any possible situation that may arise, but you are limited by the weight of your suitcase allowed and the limitation of how many suitcases you can check. Packing for summer is simple in Snowmass, though, you just have to remember that even as it is warm in the daytime, nights can get cool, so wearing layers is the best option. We really love that it never gets too hot here in the mountains, temperatures rarely rise above the 70s and it can get cold at night, so jackets are necessary, but surprisingly, you will also need sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. The Colorado sun shines brightly and comfort requires protection. Hiking shoes are a must, this time of year you will want to be outside as much as possible and the mountain provides many trails just waiting to be explored. Cameras, binoculars, and smartphones with trail apps will ensure that your adventures will be all that you dreamed they might be.

Summer Vacation Planning in Snowmass

Plan on Catching Your Dinner

Flyfishing is destined to be the activity you fall in love with during your Snowmass summer getaway, but if you have never tried the sport before, you may feel more comfortable hiring a guide service such as Aspen Flyfishing, Inc. Located inside the Gorsuch Café at 555 E Durant Avenue in Aspen, and offering a variety of trips, including wading expeditions and floating ones, your trip will be custom tailored to your experience levels, and will perhaps lead you into a new obsession. Even better, enjoying a dinner that consists of your catch of the day will create tasty memories you will never want to forget.

Plan on Feeding Your Soul While Filling Your Stomach

Speaking of tasty memories, the Snowmass/Aspen area is known to be a foodie paradise, offering worldclass restaurants that will take your dining experiences to the next level of wonderful, as well as offering the comfort food that you need to fuel your body before a long day of hiking adventures. We love to start our day out with a hearty breakfast at Daly Diner, located at 16 Kearns Road #103, offering outdoor seating options that lets guests enjoy stunning views with their delicious omelets. Fine dining is the rule, rather than the exception in Snowmass, and places such as TORO in Snowmass and Duemani in Aspen never let us down. Duemani, an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant offers a fantastic wine room filled with bottles that will enhance your meal. And because pizza is always the answer to every food question, Taster’s Pizza in Snowmass Village has been serving up the tastiest pies for over 20 years.

Plan on a Little Bronco Busting

No, we aren’t suggesting you take up rodeo activities during your summer in Colorado, but we are encouraging a visit to the Snowmass Rodeo. Held every Wednesday night from June through August, it is the longest running rodeo in the state and will be celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Offering all your standard rodeo events, as well as a petting zoo and a mechanical bull (Ok, maybe there is one rodeo activity we are suggesting you try!), this traditional and exciting summer activity will add an element of the Old West to your new west adventures.
