With a name like Snowmass, you have to expect that the town is a winter vacation destination spot, and although this is true, we at The Timberline like to remind travelers that our mountain town is a wonderful place to visit year round. Although your summer visit may be way different than your winter visit (as it should be), there are some activities you can count on enjoying no matter what season you are visiting during. We have created this go-to itinerary for visiting Snowmass any time of year, listing some of our favorite activities in Snowmass that we believe you will enjoy as well, ensuring that your Colorado journey will be one that you will never forget.

Playing Outside Is Always a Good Idea

Although the specific outdoor adventures you experience may vary from season to season, just playing outdoors is so much fun any time of the year. In the winter you may be skiing, but in the summer, you may hike on the very same trails you schussed down during an earlier visit. Hiking is not primarily a summer sport, however, as you can hike in the early fall, late spring, and once you strap a pair of snowshoes to your feet, hiking can be a snow adventure as well! The air is clean, crisp, and fresh every month of the year, and with the right clothing, you will be comfortable no matter how cold or how warm it is when you are playing outside, which is why we suggest that a good outdoor play session be added to your itinerary.

A Different Kind of Roller Coaster

Open different hours throughout the seasons, the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, located off Elk Camp Gondola, is a roller coaster powered by gravity. Offering the quickest and most exciting way to head down the mountain and reaching speeds of up to 28 miles per hour, this mountain coaster offers a 7- to 9-minute ride that you will never forget. Located mid-mountain, the views of the landscape change with each season, and please don’t ask us which season is our favorite; there is something wonderful about all the seasons in Snowmass, and we wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t slow your ride down just a little, so as to enjoy the views!

Collecting Good Times at The Collective

Located in Snowmass Village, The Collective could be considered the heart of Snowmass, offering a variety of events throughout the year, as well as providing places to play, dine, and just relax and feel a part of the Snowmass community. Its Game Lounge is loved by kids of all ages and includes a Selfie Den that will ensure your photo uploads are memorable ones. The different events offered could be as lowkey as chess nights or as exciting as the Holiday Market offered during Christmas. Live music, comedy shows, art classes, and trivia nights are more examples of the fun you can have when you choose to explore all The Collective has to offer.

Exploring the Artistic Side of Snowmass

We have always felt that the most beautiful places in the world attract the most talented artists in the world, and if you don’t believe us, a visit to Anderson Ranch Arts Center will be all the proof you need. If The Collective is the heart of Snowmass, this wonderful arts center is its soul, offering exhibitions that will convince you that art is the best souvenir, workshops that help visitors explore their inner artists, and a variety of events held throughout the year which bring the artistic and not so artistic together for entertainment and education. Located at 5263 Owl Creek Road, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center is one of our favorite places to explore all year round.

Delicious Snowmass Adventures

Obviously, you must eat, and the restaurants in Snowmass could be considered paradise to foodies, but as in most tourist towns, some will close during the off season. Fortunately, there are many places that stay open year round, including the Daly Diner, which just so happens to be our favorite place for breakfast! Located at 16 Kearns Road #103 in Snowmass Village, this delicious establishment is actually one of our favorite places to dine for all three meals as it is open from 7AM until 9 PM every day of the year. The Southwest is known for its authentic Mexican food, and if you come to Snowmass and don’t decide to try the delicacies at Venga Venga (105 Daly Lane), we promise you will be very disappointed in yourself!

Another great option is The Edge Restaurant and Bar right by Timberline Condominiums. This convenient option offers dinner, happy hour, and an apres ski experience you won’t want to miss. The restaurant specializes in “Old World” specialties that include items from Hungary and Germany.
