There are some vacations in which you have everything you want to do planned from the moment you wake up on that first day until the moment you board the airplane and prepare to return home, but we sincerely hope your Snowmass vacation isn’t that. We would just hate for your schedule to be so full that you forget all the fun that can be had when you aren’t on a tight schedule. We at The Timberline want our guests to experience the perfect vacation, and this guide to the top fun ways to spend a day in Snowmass will help you achieve what you have always dreamed about: an idyllic and fun Colorado vacation in the mountains!
Skiing in the Winter Months
You may have noticed that we didn’t specify a time of year, so this guide will cover all the seasons. Of course, we must begin with skiing. Aspen Snowmass is one of the top ski resorts in the country, and if skiing or snowboarding is your thing, spending your day on the slopes is all you will need to do to have fun.
Start out your morning with a cup of coffee and apple strudel from Bonnie’s Restaurant, known as the “soul of the mountain,” and then set your soul free as you glide down perfectly groomed trails, exploring world class terrain parks, and just letting the mountain take up permanent space in your heart. And as you make your final journey down the mountain at the end of the day, feeling cold, tired, and maybe achy, knowing that within minutes you will be sitting at a table at Venga Venga and enjoying the best après-ski in town will make you feel warm in your soul!
Hiking in the Summer Months
The mountains are our playground year round, and the same trails you may ski down in the winter months provide a stunning verdant beauty in the summer months that will never be forgotten. Every trail offers a new Snowmass activity to fall in love with, and as you breathe in that crisp mountain air, you can revel in the fact that even though you are here in the height of the summer, you won’t be feeling hot and sweaty. Keep your phone on camera mode during your hiking adventures because we promise that the views from the trails will beg to be memorialized, as will the glimpses of wildlife you capture during your exertions.

A Frosty Ride Down the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster in the Winter
Alpine coasters are fast becoming the most popular way to get down the mountain, and just one ride down the aptly named Breathtaker will prove our point! Powered by gravity and your weight and reaching speeds of up to 28 miles per hour, our 1-mile-long alpine coaster is always fun, and if you love it as much as we think you will, you can ride it as many times as you want during your day in Snowmass for just one price! Reservations will be needed and the coaster sells out early, so make your reservations before you get here to ensure you will have your time on the Breathtaker.
Summer Nights at the Snowmass Rodeo
The Old West lives long and proud in our mountain town, and every summer from mid-June to mid-August the Snowmass Rodeo comes to town. It offers all the standard rodeo events you expect, including a calf scramble and mutton busting for the smallest cowboys, as well as live entertainment, a family barbecue, and so much more. The Grand Entry is quite possibly our second favorite part of the event, as all the cowboys and cowgirls ride into the arena, paying tribute to the American flag, and we only say our second favorite part because the mutton busting and calf scramble is so darn cute!
Hanging Out at Home in Your Timberline Condo
Remember when we said that having the time to rest and relax is an important part of having a fun vacation experience? We at The Timberline are proud to offer the perfect spots to do just that, focusing on comfort, luxury, and ways to have fun without having to put a lot of effort into the activity!
Watch scary movies on state of the art televisions with a fire crackling merrily in the fireplace or work in our gourmet kitchens to create a Thanksgiving feast in the fall months. Swim in our community pool during the warmer days of summer and soak in our community hot tubs any time of the year. (It can get chilly after the sun falls behind the mountains, even in the summer months!) Sleep late, play a game of chess outside on a chessboard offering giant pieces, and watch the sun set or rise from the balcony of your retreat.
These are just some of the ways you can have fun and relax when you choose The Timberline for your Snowmass vacation retreat!
