We can’t help but get excited about Labor Day weekend, but probably not for the reasons you may be thinking. Yes, we at Timberline Condominiums appreciate the extra day off as much as anyone does, but the real reason we get so excited about this holiday is because it signifies the end of summer, bringing us ever closer to winter and all the wonders that accompany the season. Here are the top must-do Labor Day activities in Snowmass.
Top Must-Do Labor Day Activities In Snowmass
And because the weather is starting to cool, the days are growing shorter, and the smell of pumpkin spice will have already begun wafting through the air, we think you too will be excited when your holiday journey brings you to our doorstep; this guide to the top must-do Labor Day activities will give you an idea on all the fun you will have during your stay with us in Snowmass, Colorado!
JAS Aspen Music Festival, August 29 Through August 31, Snowmass Town Park
It’s only fitting that we end the summer season with an open-air music festival. There is something about summer and live music that just seems to go hand in hand, but you may not expect the caliber of music being played during this wonderful festival. Celebrating music of all types, this year’s festival will be bringing Lenny Kravitz and Luke Combs to the big stage as well as super group Imagine Dragons, and a variety of other up-and-coming stars, sure to have you jumping from your chair and performing a happy dance of joy!
Ticket prices range from $62 for specific shows to $250 for a two-day pass, but if you really want to feel bougie, the JAS Deck Pass will cost you $1560 for a one deck ticket to each day of the three-day festival. Deck passes give you access to the new 2-story deck, food, and complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks. It also includes private restrooms and a daily specialty cocktail, ensuring you will be well hydrated during your experience!
Take a Hike!
We’ve already mentioned that the temperatures are beginning to cool, ensuring hikers will stay comfortable as they meander along trails that will soon be covered with snow, but you may also catch sight of some trees beginning to change into their autumn finest. Early September is when the changes start, so depending on when you leave, you may get to witness the start of the most beautiful season.
Mid-September to mid-October, however, is consider prime leaf peeping season, so maybe you can extend your stay a little longer to enjoy the colors? In any case, no matter when you are visiting, a hike along the 7.9 mile Rim Trail will capture your interest, offering views of the mountains, the countryside, and the chance to peep some wildlife before they all turn in for the season. The best time to take this moderately challenging hike is from May through November, so your Labor Day weekend will be the perfect time to explore the Rim Trail.
Get Lost!
It may seem as if we are just insulting you now; first, we tell you to take a hike, and now we are telling you to get lost? There is a method to our madness, and just as we were extolling the virtues of a hike along the trails of Snowmass, we are now encouraging you to explore all the fun that can be had at Lost Adventure Park, based out of Elk Camp on Snowmass. Offering a hidden paradise in the midst of the trees, guests can ride an alpine coaster, explore a ropes course, fly across the trees on a zipline, test their mettle on a climbing wall, and fish, play disc golf, hike, and bike. Every outdoor adventure at Lost Adventure Park is fun and engaging, and the beauty of your natural surroundings will make you wish you never had to be found again!
Epicurean Adventures
You’ve followed your diet so well over the summer months, wanting to stay in shape for your swimsuit, but guess what? Summer’s over, and we think you should eat! The restaurants in Snowmass and Aspen are amongst some of the best in the world and are known for their hearty stick-to-your-rib ingredients, including the Stew Pot. Located at 62 Elbert Lane in Snowmass Village and offering a menu that is filled with more than just stew, this is the place where you can get a spicy bowl of chili, a hearty sandwich piled high with your favorite meats, and even burritos and nachos can be devoured at the Stew Pot!
