Top 5 Under the Radar Attractions in Snowmass, Colorado

Snowmass, Colorado is mostly known for its amazing winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. The beautiful mountains that surround the area make for some of the best snow slopes in the entire country. However, there is much more to do in Snowmass than strap yourself to a snowboard. Here are our top five under-the-radar things to do in Snowmass to enjoy while you are visiting the area.

Krabloonik Dogsled Rides

Krabloonik Dogsled Rides has been a staple of the Snowmass area for over 40 years and is loved by both visitors and locals alike. This attraction combines the cuteness of puppies with amazing dining options to give you an all-around great experience. The restaurant looks like a cozy log cabin and features amazing options for both lunch and dinner. They also offer dog sledding tours in which they provide you with a delicious meal on your tour—you can also choose to dine in their restaurant after your tour is completed. If a whole tour is not in your wheelhouse, you can always visit the dogs before or after your meal. Krabloonik recently came under new ownership and features a new chef who has created a whole new game-centric menu that displays the flavors around Snowmass. Some of these options include wild mushroom soup, elk tenderloin, pan-roasted rabbit loin, smoked rainbow trout filet and the popular cedar plan roasted salmon. These hearty meals are perfect after touring around in their amazing dogsled tours.

Snowmass Hiking Trails

Snowmass is most notably known for winter activities, but when the snow melts these ski trails turn into some of the most amazing hiking trails in all of the country. One of our favorite trails is Spiral Point. This amazing hike starts on the Rim Ridge Trail and is beautiful. Not many people hike this trail, so you will likely have the mountain to yourself. There is about 800 feet in elevation gain over the 1.3-mile trail, but this is made easier by frequent switchbacks to help with the elevation gain. The trail is surrounded by gorgeous wildflower beds and pristine views of Snowmass Village and the surrounding terrain. The trail is generally out in the open and provides wide views of the valley, but it does get a bit warm during the summer months. This is overall an amazing hike that provides a wonderful view with minimal effort.

Anderson Ranch also offers many artist lectures that will teach you about their craft and approach. Currently, there is an artist workshop featuring internationally renowned artist Enrique Martinez Celaya. The Lost Forest

The Lost Forest is an adventure camp that lies in the Base Village Plaza in Snowmass. Many of the attractions within the Lost Forest are well known in the area, but the entire camp has so many Snowmass things to do that are never shared. Their attractions include a Canopy Run Zipline Tour, a Treeline Trial Challenge Course, and a Rugged Ascent Climbing Wall. The Canopy Run Zipline includes eight Ziplines and three sky bridges at heights of 90 feet in the forest canopy. The course is progressive and culminates in a 1300-foot double zipline that you can soar through the Snowmass forest.

Snowmass Rodeo

Lying just a short drive from Snowmass Base Village is the Snowmass Rodeo which is held every Wednesday evening in the summertime. In addition to the bull riding, roping, and barrel racing that you may expect in a rodeo, you can also try your skills on the mechanical bull, bounce in the inflatables, meet the horses, and practice roping with their steel steers. There are also plenty of dining options on a property to make the most out of your visit by experiencing these Snowmass things to do.
