Snowmass Rodeo

While Snowmass is well known for its spectacular winter season, you will also find many things to love about vacationing in Snowmass during the summer months. With the snow melted from the ground, the terrain becomes an outdoor playground perfect for hiking, biking, and exploring the waterways. Warmer weather also brings special events to the area, including the well-loved Snowmass Rodeo. Experience a taste of ranch life in the west by attending some of the spectacular events at the Snowmass Rodeo!

Snowmass Rodeo Events

From pre-show activities that cater to the whole family to the many events that a rodeo includes, the Snowmass Rodeo is sure to be a showstopper. Families will want to arrive early with plenty of time to explore the petting zoo and roping activities. Adults can put their own skills to the test with a mechanical bull ride. Fill up with cowboy fuel at the food tent, where you will find mountain-inspired fair such as ribs, pulled pork, coleslaw, and baked beans.

Of course, the scheduled rodeo events are the real star of the show, beginning with a grand entrance on horseback and a tribute to the American flag. Watch in awe at the sheer skill and strength of the cowboys and cowgirls as they complete feats such as riding bareback, compete in saddle bronc riding, and try to make it to the 8-second mark during bull riding. Those who gave roping a try during the pre-show activities will have a greater appreciation for the precise timing and accuracy it takes while watching the team roping competition. With all the thrill and unpredictability of the other events, watching the sheer grace and fluidity involved in the barrel racing event is a definite change in pace. Although even the winner of this competition often pulls ahead by just hundredths of a second!

After the Snowmass Village Rodeo events have ended, browse your way through local stalls and vendors to pick up western-inspired clothing, jewelry, and décor.
