Top 5 Local Breweries Near Snowmass

Snowmass is well known for its ski slopes and amazing mountain views, but what many don’t take into consideration is the vibrant nightlife in the town. Since you can’t ski at night or during the summer, the town has evolved into a vacation destination in its own right. One of the great benefits of this growth is that many up-and-coming brew masters have opened amazing local breweries for you to enjoy. Here is a list of our top five local Snowmass breweries to enjoy during your Snowmass vacation.

Aspen Brewing Company

One of the most famous places to get excellent beer is Aspen Brewing Company. This hotspot opened back in 2008 and was the first contemporary craft brewery in the Aspen and Snowmass area. Today, you can find barrel-aged brews like the Cougar, an exquisite aged-blonde ale, the Independence Pass Ale, their rendition of the India Pale Ale, and unique seasonal options that will make you want to come back again and again. Plus, their downtown taproom is open daily from 4 to 7 p.m. and often has live music. We highly suggest visiting during their daily happy hour where their pints are only $5. Make sure you ask for samples of all of their local brews to make sure you get a taste of everything.

Hops Culture

Another popular brewery in Aspen is Hops Culture. It’s a great place to go for cold beer and comfort food, especially if you’ve been exploring Aspen all day. Sit back, relax, and admire their amazing 30-line draft system. They have a beer for just about every preference. Their Chimay Cinq Cents Triple is a classic Belgian Triple with a light and refreshing taste of citrus and notes of straw. For a darker and more interesting kick we suggest the Eddyline Brewings Grapefruit Crankyanker which is a classic dark IPA brewed with grapefruit and mango. We also highly recommend trying the food too; everything is made from scratch. Their kitchen takes the approach of bringing simple food that perfectly complements their beer selections. Simply put they serve comfort food elevated. The brewery and gastropub is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Enjoy Snowmass Breweries Like the Highlands Alehouse

Since its foundation in 1958, Highlands Alehouse has always been a local watering hold and premier place to take a load off from your busy ski days. You can take a break from the snow and sip on one of their 16 draft beers, 60 bottles and cans, 75 whiskies, excellent wine menu, and much more. The brewery also offers mouthwatering food to help you regain some energy before heading back to the slopes. Everything on the menu is made from scratch, including pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and more. Their Colorado Angus burgers are simply amazing, and you must order one if you want your burger expectations blown! The Alehouse is only open during the winter, December 1st through April 14th, but you can visit seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m while checking out Aspen, Colorado breweries.

Aspen Tap Room

The Aspen Tap Room is a self-proclaimed craft brewery and pizza pub serving up some of Colorado’s best in craft beer. They combine the amazing craft beers of local breweries with their amazing food selections to create an amazing experience. They are an affiliate of Aspen Brewing Company and feature their amazing and award-winning beers alongside craft cocktails, great wines, cider, and nonalcoholic beverages. These amazing drink selections are all complimented by a pizza-focused lunch and dinner menu that will blow your socks off. Their menu features pizza favorites like pepperoni, cheese, and caprese, but it also takes fresh spins on pizza as well. Their short rib is one of our favorites and combines white sauce, scamorza cheese, house braised short rib, Yukon potatoes, and onions to create a whole new experience. For those with a sweet tooth visiting Aspen Colorado breweries, we also recommend their dessert pizza called Scout’s Honor which puts Nutella, cinnamon sugar, and marshmallow on a pizza!

Capitol Creek Brewery

Just up the road from Snowmass village lies this amazing little brewery in Basalt. All of their beers are brewers in house by their brewmaster Jerod and they keep a variety of different options open for everyone who visits. They constantly have new tapping events, and their beer selection is always rotating. Some of their favorites include a Green Drake IPA, Casa Bonita Lager, and the Choco Cherry Stout. To complement their beer options Capitol Creek also has some amazing food options as well. Along with traditional pub food they have tacos that brings elegant Mexican street food to Colorado. We suggest trying their al pastor tacos with their fried duck wings appetizer for a wonderful meal to compliment your beer selection.
