Thanksgiving Day coincides with the first day of the skiing and snowboarding season, making it a perfect time to hit the slopes. With plenty of holiday excitement in the air, be some of the first to blaze a trail for the season on the renowned Snowmass slopes!

Join a Turkey Trot

Offset some of the calories you will be indulging in later by beginning Thanksgiving morning with a Turkey Trot. These races have become popular around the country and the Snowmass area is no exception. The Aspen Club hosts an annual 6K Turkey Trot every Thanksgiving morning. With a low cost of $20-25, depending on the time of registration, this is a great way for the whole family to start the day with active outdoor time.

Explore Nordic Trails

If there has been enough snowfall for the season for trails to be groomed, exploring the Nordic trails around Snowmass is a great activity for the entire family. Nordic skiing has a much easier learning curve than downhill skiing, so this can be a great option for those who aren’t yet ready to tackle the slopes. As an added bonus, you will get a great workout while enjoying the area’s beautiful snow-draped scenery!

Enjoy a Feast

Traveling during the holidays doesn’t mean having to forgo that much looked forward to Thanksgiving feast. A variety of Snowmass restaurants offer options for both dining in and taking out a Thanksgiving meal while enjoying activities in Snowmass. Check out favorites such as The Artisan Restaurant located in Snowmass village for their mouth-watering four-course holiday spread. Other nearby options include Ajax Tavern, Element 47, and Mawa’s Kitchen.
