Every winter, tourists flock to winter sports destinations like Snowmass and Aspen. After a day on the slopes or trying your hand at other winter activities like snowshoeing or snowmobiling, you’ll want to warm up with a hot meal. There are plenty of places to eat in Aspen and Snowmass to warm you up and fill you up before heading out, or for any meal of the day.

Taster’s

Pizza is a must during any vacation, and if you can get other Italian favorites like meat lasagna, linguini, penne, and more, you’ll enjoy the warmup you get at Taster’s Pizza in Snowmass. Choose your pasta –penne or linguini –and add marinara, meat, or alfredo sauce. You might add some of their meatballs, too. Try the pesto chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and artichokes, or choose chicken or eggplant parmesan over pasta. For something different, order a mozzarella, parmesan, or ricotta calzone stuffed with your choice of pizza toppings, baked and served with marinara. If you came for the pizza, try traditional toppings like pepperoni, Canadian bacon, green peppers, or pineapple. If you’re looking for something different on your pie, try specialty toppings like sun-dried tomatoes, diced meatballs, or spinach. Open for takeout and delivery only, 11:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Poppycock’s Cafe

If you’re looking for a warm breakfast to keep you going throughout the day, look no further than Poppycock’s Cafe in Aspen. Their location –just steps from the gondola –makes it the perfect breakfast stop before hitting the slopes. Fill up with old-fashioned oatmeal pancakes, blueberry granola pancakes, or traditional buttermilk pancakes. French toast sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon will help keep you warm. For something, a little lighter to keep you warm, choose their various egg combos, egg sandwiches, eggs benedict, or a breakfast burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, black beans, and cheese and smothered with homemade pork chili Verde or vegetable salsa and served with country potatoes. What breakfast joint doesn’t have omelets? Enjoy a western omelet with onion, green pepper, ham, and cheese, a vegetarian omelet with onion, spinach, mushroom, and cheese, or build your own with toppings like tomatoes, broccoli, jalapeno, three types of cheese, bacon, sausage, or turkey. Pick up or delivery available.

The Stew Pot

Located in Snowmass Village, the stew pot has you covered with soups and stews to warm the soul and make your mouth water at the same time. Their homemade offerings change regularly, including a daily special. Try classics like chicken noodle, along with specialties like Mediterranean lamb stew –a hearty stew made with potatoes, veggies, and lamb.

Venga Venga Cantina & Tequila Bar

For a warm meal with the flavors of Mexico, head to Venga Venga Cantina & Tequila Bar. They offer grilled chicken or grilled steak tacos, along with their Baja taco –grilled Mahi-Mahi, citrus chipotle aioli, avocado, tomatoes, and corn. Choose from chicken, shrimp, steak, or a combo fajita served with onions, bell peppers, guacamole, Mexican rice, refried beans, crema, and tortillas. Go for something a little different and choose their chicken zarape. You’ll taste the bacon, panela, pico, chipotle sauce, crema, avocado, refried black beans, and Mexican rice.

Hickory House

Try some barbecue favorites to warm you up. The Aspen location of Hickory House has plenty of palate-pleasing options, including imported the best Danish baby back ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, their house-made mac & cheese and more. If you’d rather warm up without the mess, opt for their cowboy ribeye, filet, or center cut New York strip.
