There are many different ways to get around Snowmass during your next vacation, but the best way is on foot or by bus. When it comes to getting to and from the slopes, the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority has you covered, offering regular and affordable service to the major ski areas, and the ride from Aspen to Snowmass Village is free. If you are looking for help in getting around during your vacation, consider these options for Snowmass transportation.
Snowmass Transportation to and from the Airport
The best way to travel from the airport is by using public transportation. The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority provides free service from the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport to central Snowmass. If you are flying into Denver International Airport or Eagle County Regional Airport, service to Snowmass is offered by Colorado Mountain Express (fees vary). You can rent a car in Denver or at the Snowmass-Pitkin County Airport. From Denver, take I-70 to Snowmass’s Route 82, the town’s main thoroughfare.
On Foot
One of the most fun ways to travel around Snowmass is by foot. There is nothing among Aspen Snowmass transportation quite like walking around the downtown district when the sun shines off of the snow. When it comes to exploring Snowmass, all you need is a comfy pair of shoes or snow boots. This mountain town is about 3.5 square miles and is easy to explore on foot.
Bus
The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority runs an affordable and reliable bus service; buses – which connect Snowmass to nearby ski areas and neighboring villages – run approximately every half hour. You can ride within Snowmass for free, but you’ll have to cough up a few bucks to head down the valley to towns like Glenwood Springs. Single-ride fares range from $1 to $10, depending on your destination.
Car
You don’t need a car to make the most of your time in Snowmass; your feet will suit you just fine in town, and the bus will get you to and from the ski areas in an affordable and timely fashion. But if you do plan on having a car handy, be prepared for difficult driving conditions during the winter, as well as limited parking throughout the year.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Snowmass and throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, but you can save money on Aspen Snowmass transportation by relying on the bus. Both Colorado Mountain Express and High Mountain Taxi offer services to and from the airports. High Mountain Taxi also provides taxi transport around town and to the ski areas.
