Dog Sledding in Aspen and Snowmass

Although Aspen and Snowmass are most notably known for skiing and snowboarding, the area plays host to many different winter activities. If you are looking for a new take on your classic winter getaway, make sure that you try out Colorado dog sledding while you are here in our rentals!

What Is Dog Sledding?

Dog sledding is a winter sport in which a sled is pulled by one or more sled dogs over ice and through snow. There is a wide variety of different sleds depending on your activity, but they are most notably known for the sport of dog sled racing. Dog sledding and dog sled racing vary from country to country in both their approach and kinds of dogs they use. In Greenland, the dogs will pull in a fan shape in front of the sled, while in the US and Canada they pull side by side in pairs. No matter how you go about it, dog sledding is fun and a once in a lifetime experience.

Snowmass Dog Sledding at Krabloonik Mountain Dining and Dog Sledding

Snowmass Dog Sledding is one of the premier ways to see the sights, and no one does it better than the people at Krabloonik Mountain Dining and Dog Sledding. Krabloonik Mountain Dining and Dog Sledding has sleds that can fit two adults and a small child. Their state-of-the-art sleds are pulled by eight to ten expertly trained Alaskan Husky sled dogs bred for running long sled runs. The teams are led by an experienced musher who has a bonded relationship with these amazing huskies. If you are looking for more of an experience than just the sled ride, they also have packages where the sled run ends at a gas lit log cabin that offers lunch, après ski, and dinner featuring Colorado fares from hearty stews to wild game dishes.

Morning and afternoon tours are about 45 minutes in length but can be up to an hour depending upon the weather and snow conditions. Guests can enjoy a mid-ride break fireside at a campfire with hot cocoa or cider and spend time getting to know these amazing dogs. Morning and afternoon sessions typically begin at 9 am, 11 am, or 1:15 pm, so they really fit in with any trip’s itinerary. Colorado dog sledding is really a wonderful activity to experience, so make sure you check it out during your next Snowmass vacation!
