Festivals and Events 2012

Aspen/Snowmass is home to many summer festivals and events making it a great spot for a summer getaway.  Many of these festivals take place right outside your back door or just a few minutes down the road into Aspen.  Look for lodging packages form the Timberline, the best option for Aspen/Snowmass lodging.  Several of our favorite events are:

Aspen Music Festival, June 28 - August 19, 2012         Aspen Ideas Festival, June 27- July 3, 2012

US Pro Cycling Challenge - August 20 - 26, 2012, with Stage 3 finishing in Aspen and Stage 4 departing from Aspen. Watch riders descend and then ascend the 12,000 plus foot Independence Pass.  

Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival – Labor Day Weekend in Snowmass Village!  Last year's headliners included Steely Dan, and Michael Franti & Spearhead.  Stay tuned for this year's headliners.

Snowmass Summer of Free Music Series  begins June 28 and continues each Thursday evening through August 16. 
Snowmass Rodeo begins June 13 and continues each Wednesday evening through mid-August. Events include parade, bronc riding, roping, barrel racing.  BBQ dinner served before rodeo begins.

37th Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival with the Snowmass Wine Festival on Saturday, September 14- 16
Snowmass Balloon Festival and the Snowmass Wine Festival, Sept. 14-16 This September marks the 37th year of the Snowmass Balloon Festival.  The festival includes Fall colors, hot air balloons, music and great food from local chefs and wineries.

12 Hours of Snowmass – Enjoy mountain biking?  Check out this 12 hour mountain bike race on Snowmass Mountain.  You can ride the race solo or enter as a team.  The 2008 12 Hours of Snowmass included Lance Armstrong who competed on a team of three.  This race benefits two local non-profit organizations. 

Golden Leaf Half-Marathon Classic – The Golden Leaf race is one of the most scenic races in America.  The 13.3 mile course traverse from Snowmass Village to Aspen on mountain trails and roads.  Enjoy the Fall colors as you run this half-marathon.
