Cycling and Mountain Biking
From the comfort of your Snowmass condo lodging, you can jump on a bike and hit the mountain bike trails in and around Snowmass. With miles of trails ranging from beginner to expert, there is something for everyone. Enjoy road cycling to Aspen along Owl Creek Road. Continue to the base of the Maroon Bells or up Castle Creek Valley. The Rio Grande Trail links Aspen to Glenwood Springs, passing Woody Creek, Basalt and Carbondale along the way. This fabulous trail was a former railroad corridor and often follows along the Roaring Fork River. The scenery is outstanding!
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge, August 20-26, 2012 offers an exciting finish in Aspen on August 22. Racers spend the night and start from Aspen over Independence Pass on August 23. Call the Timberline for lodging specials!

Mountain Biking
On Snowmass Mountain you'll find Burlingame lift which will take you and your bike to the mid-mountain area. A helmet and lift ticket is required to access lift serviced trails. From here you can ride a downhill mountain biking course to the base area or pick up the Government Trail to Aspen. A favorite for beginners and experts alike is the Tom Blake Trail which is especially nice in the Fall as it is surrounded by Aspen trees. If you are interested in a longer adventure, ride your mountain bike in a loop around Snowmass Village by heading out the Rim Trail and returning on Highline and Tom Blake.
